Join this special plein air series featuring past Masters Champions from the Grand Prix of Art. These outdoor workshops will take place at locations in and around the Steveston Historic Waterfront (but will retreat to our studio in the event of inclement weather). Locations and details to be announced.

150 artists race against the clock in the 14th annual Grand Prix of Art, Steveston. Presented by Phoenix Art Workshop and the Travellingbrush.com in partnership with the City of Richmond, local businesses, and an amazing community.

Saturday July 27, 2024 is “Race Day.” Competitors arrive at Britannia Heritage Shipyards National Historic Site, are assigned their painting location by random draw, then head to their locations for the start of the competition at 10:00 am. They have just 3 hours to complete their works of art before returning to the shipyards to display their paintings. At Britannia Shipyards we have live entertainment, food trucks and artisan market, the award ceremony, and the display and sale of artwork. Hundreds of people are expected to enjoy artists painting on location during race day and to visit the outdoor exhibition at Britannia Heritage Shipyards after the race, casting their votes for the People’s Choice Award.
