Vancouver Whale Watch Mural

In 2001 Mark Glavina and Phoenix Art Workshop were commissioned by Vancouver Whale Watch to paint this massive mural in Steveston. The mural took us four weeks to complete as a summer camp for youth under our mentorship program, The classes were split into two segments - a morning group that worked with our installation teacher Jim Muir constructing various 3 dimensional projects, to compliment the afternoon sessions; assisting Mark Glavina in painting this massive mural. To prepare for this project we took our group of young people on a whale watching tour with Vancouver Whale watch to observe the incredible Orcas in the while. This tour became the inspiration and reference for our mural, entitled J-Pod.
